Biostratigraphical Control

Biostratigraphical control
[Aim 1] (J. Tong)

Several well-dated Lower Triassic successions in South China, Himalaya and Arctic regions are crucial in the Early Triassic biostratigraphic correlations. Conodont, ammonoid and bivalve zones will be used to constrain depositional ages and thus provide a framework for the community ecologic analysis at all study sections. The stratigraphic frameworks dervived from the previous IGCP 359 (1993-1997, led by H.F. Yin) and current IGCP 467 as well as the P-Tr sections that we will measure in the study regions will provide a useful and sound base for studying community ecology.
